BACKGROUND
People's Oriented Program Implementation (POPI) founded in the year 1986 in the small village Jamalpur in Bhairab upazila under Kishoregonj district with the aim to improve living conditions and to alleviate the poverty of the poor and disadvantage people in Bangladesh. Through determination, confident and hard work, it became national NGO by 1992. The year 1993 was a milestone for POPI through undertaking comprehensive development program including social and economic empowerment with the support of donors and MFI institutions. POPI'S growth, in terms of institution building and program, good governance, human resource building and program scale-up gained rapid momentum from the year 1998.
Presently POPI covers more than half a million poor and marginalized people directly through various development and rights based initiatives, covering more than 4,000 villages of above 700 unions, more than 100 Upazilas in 16 districts of Bangladesh. It runs programs and project activities through more 200 offices and with a team of nearly 2000 qualified and experienced regularly paid staff, above 500 paid volunteers and several thousands unpaid volunteers.

OUR MISSION
To work for the people and with the people irrespective of religion, caste, ethnicity, creed, belief age and sex who are in any form of marginalization and exclusion by addressing root causes of their marginalization, exclusion, inhuman situation and exploitation for ensuring security, justice and dignified living.
To implement appropriate, need based, result oriented development and welfare programs and projects that enhance participation of targeted people to bring significant positive changes in lives and living.
To build linkages and render cooperation/coordination with among government, civil societies, NGOs, and community based organization for best utilization of scarce resources in attaining sustainable development for the targeted people.
To build and enhance capacity, competence and commitments of personnel, institutions and groups who are involved in development and welfare activities.
To institutionalize the system and procedures that facilitates the growth of POPI as sustainable organization.
