POPI in Brief

Since its inception in 1986, POPI has been dedicated to empowering women and communities living in poverty and extreme poverty in Bangladesh. The organization's initial focus was on raising awareness, sensitizing, and organizing women to alleviate poverty through leadership and management skill-building. Over the years, POPI has grown into one of the country's leading NGOs, with a presence in 24 districts. Its services have been highly appreciated by the communities it serves, and the organization remains committed to promoting sustainable development, gender justice, and social harmony. Throughout its long journey, POPI has made a significant impact on the lives of many people, and it continues to work tirelessly towards creating a better future for all.

  • 1. To work for the people and with the people irrespective of religion, caste, ethnicity, creed, belief, age and sex who are in any form of marginalisation and exclusion.

POPI CORE COMPETENCIES

POPI started its journey tackling the significant social concerns both from the practical and strategic purview of community situations and providing awareness and education support among the outreach communities. Later POPI adopted microfinance to empower the communities especially the women. POPI observed that when women are empowered many social issues are automatically get addressed like women’s participation in the family and community periphery gets automatically increased. Many of POPI borrowers are now members of Local Government, making the silent revolution in the rural areas. We define our competencies from our long experience and time-tested achievements:
