Improving Market system and Establishing Common Service Centers for Mechanization of Small Footwear Industry ( Value Chain )

This project is a sub-project of PKSF’s PACE (Promoting Agricultural Commercialization and Enterprises) is being implemented by POPI since July 2017 in Bhairab, Kishoregonj. This project aims to increase the income and improve standard of living of the entrepreneurs and workforces through introducing mechanization for the advancement of small scale footwear industries of Bhairab

Despite of having a rich tradition, the footwear industry of Bhairab remains underdeveloped. This means that the artisans and workers involved with the local footwear industry in the area have not yet been able to capitalize much on the rising demand for high quality products and as such have failed to improve on their own standard of living. This project concentrates on improving the quality of human resources engaged in shoe making process and development of material infrastructure including introducing improved machinaries to ensure higher productivity and rate of return and thus make contribution in improving quality of life of the people engaged in this industry in and around Bhairab.

The project will ensure followings to achieve the stated objectives of this pioneering initiative:

  1. Access to quality inputs, machineries, spares and services essential for smooth growth of footwear industry.
  2. Furthering and developing new skills for the entrepreneurs as well by the workforce through imparting relevant types of trainings.
  3. Building linkages with institutional buyers having nationwide marketing potentials and outlets.
  4. Facilitating access to finance for continued growth etc.
