Gender and Social Justice Program (GSJP)

As a right based organization POPI attaches high importance for realizing gender and social justice for the community people it works with. POPI has been implementing the Gender and Social Justice Project from 2011 with the financial and technical support from Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) to promote human rights through providing legal and social support to the community people, particularly women along with working children and persons belonging to working classes who suffer from various forms of violence ,deprivation and exclusions.

This project’s prime objective is to strengthening democracy by promoting human rights culture in Bangladesh. POPI as a partner of ASK, implements this project in KIshoregonj district  by focusing on mobilizing and developing community activism to protect lawful rights of community people and raising awareness on gender and social justice issues.

The major activities that are conducted by the GSJP include:

  1. Facilitation to form Community Based Organizations (CBOs) and support them with capacity building, networking building and referrals
  2. Training for CBOs and human rights defender lawyers
  3. Assisting CBOs in monitoring and documenting incidences of human rights violations and seeking redress and assist CBOs and lawyers group with organizing, meeting, workshops and other events etc.
