POPI Hosts Town Hall Meet with Distinguished Guests

On March 29th, 2023, POPI hosted a Town Hall Meet event that boasted a distinguished guest list from the ministry of Bangladesh, Different Government Organisations, Banks, Financial Institutions, and National and Internation NGOs. The Hon'ble Minister of the Ministry of Planning, Mr. M A Mannan, economist, columnist and former Governor of Bangladesh Bank, Dr. Atiur Rahman, Managing Director of PKSF, Dr. Namita Halder NDC, Executive Vice Chairman of the Microcredit Regulatory Authority, Mr. Md. Fasiullah and Mr. Md. Abdul Karim, Executive Director of UCEP Bangladesh were among the notable attendees.

 

During the Town Hall Meet, Mr. Fasiullah commended POPI's flagship programme, POPI Floating School, and applauded the organization's tireless efforts in supporting communities across Bangladesh. Dr. Atiur Rahman, who has a long-standing affiliation with POPI, spoke about the organization's instrumental role in helping over 2.5 million families overcome poverty. The Honourable Planning Minister also expressed gratitude towards POPI for its valuable contributions towards realizing the government's vision of a Smart Bangladesh by 2041. Mr. Md. Abdul Karim, the Executive Director of UCEP, spoke highly of POPI's consistent growth over time and expressed his appreciation for the organization's ongoing efforts to contribute towards creating a poverty-free Bangladesh.

 

Mr Murshed Alam Sarker, the Executive Director of POPI expressed appreciation to all attendees for their participation and highlighted the potential for future collaborations between POPI and its partners. The Town Hall Meet event was a significant opportunity for POPI to showcase its work and engage with prominent figures in the field of community development, banking and microfinance industry. POPI's unwavering commitment to supporting communities across Bangladesh has made it a crucial player in the country's efforts towards progress and development.
